Henk Tichelaar heeft zijn opleiding gekregen aan de Academie te Kampen, met als specialisatie de vrije grafiek. Hij heeft op dit moment een voorkeur voor de droge naald techniek
media, die hij later handmatig inkleurt. Hij heeft verschillende thema's die steeds terugkomen; zoals het interieur, het landschap. Hij is een subtiel dichter in lijn en kleur in vorm en lijkt verwant aan P. Klee. Hij voelt zich vooral geïnspireerd door de vroege Corneille en Roger Bissière. Hij exposeert regelmatig in Nederland en Duitsland. In 2001 heeft hij de Franse grafiekprijs van het Institut de France te Parijs gewonnen.Henk Tichelaar was educated in Kampen and is specialised in free graphics. At the moment he prefers the fry-etching needle media and the prints are handcoloured afterwards. He has some themes returning regularly, such as the interior and landscapes. He is a subtle poet in line, colour and shape and is congenial to Paul Klee. Also the early Corneille and Roger Bissiere are a great inspiration to him.
